Aachen {MWH} - "FB Weak Slant" - A quick handoff to the fullback, who can choose an over-guard dive, an over-tackle slant, or a short sweep. This play is especially effective because it attacks the weak side with a charge of power.
BJ Crest {EDR} - An offtackle play from the wishbone set that can burn defenses that are drawn in too tightly.
BJ Dip {EDR} - A basic dive between the center and left guard from the wishbone set. Very difficult to stop without stuffing the middle.
Can't stop this thing? {BH} - This is a power pitch with the tight end and fullback leading the charge on the right side.
ChickenBone DCB1 {JM} - This is a fake Dive Center, with Back #1 taking the ball. A modification of the University of Texas wishbone formation. This is the Flunkies most successful deep drop rushing play and it works well against most modern defenses.
Chrysler Imperial {BH} - This is a simple pitch to the halfback, with one exception: a tight end and another halfback are in the backfield, bulldozing their way straight ahead.
Counter * {DMW} - A loose copy of the old Redskin counter trey in which two running backs {unless you have John Riggins} fake a strong-side sweep and cutback behind an unusual line blocking scheme. This number looks a little strange on the blackboard, but consistently gets the job done. The play can really kill a defense which sits back in a zone because of the four blockers that usually pop out in front of the halfback and steamroll any lurking defenders.
Dessau {MWH} - "FB Dive" - Another quick handoff to the fullback, who chooses which gap to run through.
Domers... {BH} - This is a simple straight ahead handoff to the halfback. The lengthened blocking routes seem to aid in creating a workable hole for the running back to muscle through.
Dortmund {MWH} - "FB Over Guard" - Yet another quick attack on the defensive middle, a variation of the Koeln halfback run.
Double Pitch.2* {UB} - This is a nice play, a genuine pepperoni pizza original. The tight end draws his coverage deep, clearing out a defensive back. The quaterback's pitch is designed to sucker in the defensive linemen and perhaps a linebacker or two. The second pitch is supposed to get the ball out to the fleet footed halfback. By the time the second halfback receives the ball, he should have outrun even the fastest ouside linebacker. Everyone else is assigned decoy routes.
Down and out... {BH} - This play was designed to help defeat the only coach I have never defeated in competition. {RichardA85, coach of the excellent Eagle squad.} Sad to say, it did not work. It was a unique pitch/sweep in its day, now regulated to the ashbin of PlayMaker Football history by works from such sweepmasters as EddV and Damien Alexander. {sigh}
Draw {GN} - Most of my plays are simple, and this is no exception. The halfback lines up behind the quarterback and fakes a run to the strongside. The quarterback pump fakesto the wide receiver split out wide, before dropping back to hand the ball to the halfback as he returns to the weakside to begin his run downfield. The linemen and other running back pause before blocking to the weakside.
FB Draw Mid {ICK} - This is a simple delayed draw to the fullback, with a pass fake to the flanker before the handoff.
Flensburg {MWH} - "QB Sneak Over Guard" - This time the quarterback keeps the ball, while running weak under the blocking of the fullback, the tight end and a pulling offensive lineman.
Gotha {MWH} - "FB Option Dive" - Still another middle attack, with the quarterback moving in a counter motion to aid the fullback and his blockers by drawing away some defensive linemen and confusig the rest of the defense. A smart fullback makes this a great play.
HB Dive {RP} - The halfback takes the handoff and follows the tackle in this power running play.
HB Fake Weak {DMW} - A nifty little number where the quarterback fakes a strong-side pitch to the fullback and then hands off to the halfback for a quick five to seven yard scamper up the middle. The key block in this play is thrown by the tight end who runs a quick five yard cross and then blocks back against the strong-side linebacker pursuit.
HB Offtackle Lf {ICK} - A straightforward offtackle play, the halfback follows the lead block of the fullback around the left tackle. The quarterback steps right, fakes to the flanker split out right and hands off to the halfback running left.
HB Offtackle {RP} - The halfback takes the handoff and follows the tackle in this variation of the classic offtackle play.
HB Pitch Lf. {JGB} - This play was an attempt to duplicate the Comedians powerful sweeps. It is keyed by a quick pitch to the halfback and by quick pulling guards taking out the linebacker pursuit.
HB Plunge {RP} - The halfback takes the handoff, and shoots between the tackle and guard on this power short yardage play.
HB Spin Dive {JGB} - This play was inspired by one of the Germans running plays that seemed to consistently fake out my linebackers. It is keyed on the fake on the right to the fullback and the quick followup handoff on the left to the halfback.
HB Sweep Left {RP} - This is power footballl, the guard pulls with the tight end and the fullback follows up lead blocking for the halfback.
It/hb misdirection {DCA} - This play works because of the fullback cutting back to get the handoff and following the halfback and tight end into the hole.
It/power up mid {DCA} - This play works on the left guard trapping the defensive end or tackle, while the tight end and fullback clear the hole for the halfback. A great first down running play.
Kiel {MWH} - "QB Bootleg L" - A fake pass to the split end allows the quarterback to fool the secondary and outwit the linebackers. Its only big weakness is against late blitzing defensive backs or quick linemen.
Koeln {MWH} - "HB Quick Dive" - An extremely quick dive to the weak side, this halfback run will kill a defense unprepared for a middle rushing attack.
Needful Things/counter {DCA} - Inspired by the Redskins, this play works on the quarterback dropping back, but moving forward right before the pitch, which confuses the defensive rush, and allows the halfback to pop the run to the outside.
Picturepages... {BH} - One day, for perhaps the only time in my life, I watched the Cosby Show. Later that day, I developed this play...hence the name. It is a pass fake, followed with a pitch to the halfback, accompanied by unique blocking routes designed to open holes.
Pitch right {GN} - Simplicity itself! The quarterback fakes a hand off to the 'hot' running back before pitching it right to the other running back. All blocking is set to protect the 'weaker' running back's run. Adjust the timing of the blocking of the widest tight end so that the blocking is effective against different defenses.
Quadratic formula {BH} - This play was created the day after a Calculus exam {obviously!}. It is similar to "Picturepages" except that the halfback is diagrammed to run through a hole on the right.
Rage/square dance {DCA} - This is a slow developing dive out of the square formation. The halfback takes a couple of steps left, before taking the handoff and following the tight end and fullback through the hole.
Reversal of Fortune {GN} - I made this play because I was interested in name The Guild plays after movies. Reversal of Fortune struck me as a good name for a halfback reverse run. Naturally! I don't think this play will translate well into PlayMaker Football 2.0 because the second running back is not very good at handing off the ball, but try it anyway! The key, I believe, is the block by the right guard who picks off pursuit of the final running back who follows his blockers downfield.
Serendipity {RKP} - Serendipity was designed for the second quarter of GFL Season5 as an answer to what I was seeing as gimmick plays. Originally, the up halfback got the center snap as he crossed in front of the quarterback, but because of its illegality in current PMFB rules, a slighlty different play developed. It turned out to be just as powerful, since even the mighty Eradicators, who demolished the Stealth, could not stop it. Neither did many other teams.
Spread - HB Lf. {JGB} - Simply a quick handoff. The key in this play is the spread wide receivers. If the defense is in man to man coverage the potential for this play to gain four or five yards at a time is great.
Spread - QB Draw {JGB} - Another spread formation to draw man to man coverage away from the play. The key here is the quarterback faking a pass to the farthest left wide receiver, thereby momentarily freezing the defensive backfield and linebackers.
Tight - HB Dive {JGB} - A power dive to the left out of a tight formation. Works well against zone defenses.
Tight - HB Sweep Rt. {JGB} - Another attempt to create a power sweep. This is simply a free for all with the halfback scrambling for as many yards as he can get.
Trips - HB Dive {JGB} - The quarterback stands behind and to the right of the halfback who is lined up under the center. The center hikes the ball to the quarterback who then hands off forward to the halfback who is right up on the line of scrimmage. The play is keyed by the pulling right guard whom the halfback follows.
Trips - HB Run Lf. {JGB} - This is a general all-purpose running play that seems to be effective against most defenses. There are two keys to this play; the pulling right guard and the pattern of the halfback, which follows the pattern of the pulling guard until he gets the handoff.
Tuttlingen {MWH} - "HB Dive" - Another dive, but with a twist of freezing the secondary and any zoned linebackers with a pump fake to the split end, then handing off to the halfback.
Villingen-Schwenningen {MWH} - "FB Option Slant W" - The fake pass to the halfback adds to the chaos created in this Hannover-related weak side run: The fullback again chooses to take the dive, go for the slant, or run the sweep.
Zwickau {MWH} - "HB Draw" - Another draw play, with a fake pass to the flanker giving the defense some trouble, while the halfback tries to slip by unnoticed.
